Nails of the Week =)

These nails of the week are from a couple of weeks ago..I know I'm late! I used two Avon Speed Dry Nail Enamels in the colors gleaming gold and olive green. Over top, on the accent finger I used a black crackle polish by Pop Beauty, and on the other nails over top I used a silver sparkle crackle polish by Pop Beauty as well.

Nails of the Week!

This is actually last week's nail polish of the week, I've just been a little bit busy with finals for the semester and what not! This is Avon Nailwear Pro in the shade Violet Sparkle and it is absolutely amazinggg! I <3 it!

It's a deep plummy color with some gold shimmer in it, although after you apply it the shimmer is very minimal. It's must more noticeable in the bottle than on your natural nails.

Nails of the Week & The Revealing Of Last Week's Polishes!

This gorgeous green festive polish is Zoya in the shade "Holly." If you've watched my latest Birchbox video, then you would know it was included in my November Birchbox, so obviously I was super excited, so I had to try it out. This polish does have a significant amount of sparkle to it, but don't be surprised by the photo, it only is very noticeable in the light (or the obvious flash of the camera) so your nails won't look like a disco ball 24/7. Excuse the photo, I didn't clean up around my nails until after I took the picture. 

But let's talk about last week's Nails of the Week in case you missed it. I didn't share what type of polishes I used to create this funky blue/purple look, because I was conducting a little experiment, but now I'll reveal them to you...

These are the shades "Teal" and "Purple" by the brand NK. These polishes were very affordable (Only $1 at my local dollar store). I wanted to see how such cheap polish would hold up, since I am all about beauty on a budget, I thought this would be a fun experiment. These polishes did not start significantly chipping until about day 8. I decided to wear these polishes for 10 days to give them a maximum run, hence why this NOTW is so postponed.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well they held up, I also purchase the NK nail enamel top coat and used that, rather than OPI's top coat. The top coat made my nails very shiny, and these polishes surprisingly dried very quickly. I bought quite a few shades in these polishes, because I figured, at the very least, they would be nice bright colors to use for nail art designs if anything. 

So, there you have it. You don't need to spend $18 on a MAC nail polish or even $10 on an OPI polish to achieve results. Hell, no one will even know what type of nail polish you've got on. If you don't have a lot of money to spend on beauty products, then don't feel bad for buying cheaper. The products often work the same, or very similar. =)

Nails of the Week - Can You Guess?

So, this week I opted to do a little experimenting. I'm not going to post the names of these two nail polishes until I do the nails of the week for next week. I took this photograph today, but I actually painted my nails on Sunday. Sorry for the delay.


Can anyone guess what two nail polishes these are? I bet you will be pleasantly surprised!

BTW, for anyone who was wondering, when I used the ELF Chocolate nail polish last week, and I used the base coat underneath, it did not stain my natural nails. However, the polish was somewhat difficult to get off. Not necessarily on my actual nails, but I found that the brown shade smeared all over the tips of my fingers. Kind of unpleasant, but a lot better with a base coat than the red shade I used that my natural nails are STILL stained from! Looks like I won't be sporting a french manicure until all of that grows out!

Polish of the Week =)

So I decided to give ELF polishes another chance. After the first time I used an ELF polish in a red shade, it stained my natural nails to a pinkish color. (I did not use a base coat, FYI.) So this time I thought, since I had bought maybe five or so ELF shades, I would give a more festive fall color a shot. This time I chose the color Chocolate, and used a simple Japanese nail art polish in gold glitter that I bought off of eBay to run along the tips. I'm not sure why my camera tinted this picture a purple-ish hue. I really like this look and I think it's pretty festive for the season! =)

Avon Speed Dry Nail Enamel in Limeade

This week I opted for a very summer-ish color, setting aside the fact that we are already into fall. It was on sale through Avon for only $1.99 so I had to pick it up. It's a very sheer and satin light green, and the color is buildable. The photo above shows two coats of the polish, along with OPI's top coat.
